Leading experts offer free irrigation and landscaping advice

Activities, workshops and exhibits to promote water efficiency

Granite Bay, Calif. – San Juan Water District and the City of Folsom will host a How to Landscape Day on Saturday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering advice, demonstrations and exhibits from leading experts and organizations in water efficient landscapes and gardens. 

Lifetime UC Master Gardener Fred Hoffman, aka Farmer Fred, who hosts KFBK’s Garden Show, will debunk common garden myths at 10 a.m. Don Smith, Water Conservation Coordinator for the City of Folsom, will provide helpful tips and information about smart irrigation at 11:15 a.m. Aquatic biologist and educator, Holly Crosson, will present information about the spread of invasive plants in waterways and how to use aquatic plants in garden design at 12:15 p.m. 

With outdoor irrigation accounting for about 70 percent of water use in the summer, it is important to use water efficiently. The How to Landscape Day will demonstrate to homeowners how to have an attractive landscape using less water. Attendees will learn about design and maintenance of water efficient landscapes from Master Gardeners, professional landscape designers, eco-friendly organizations, nurseries and water agencies. Exhibitors will showcase new products, services and techniques with hands-on demonstrations.
